Owning my position

Today I heard some words that rang a bell in my ears. The saying was "own your position." What does this mean to me? A lot! I have to own my position professionally and personally. Where am I am in life? Where am I professionally? I have to evaluate these questions and come up with answers, can I? I feel I can inside but outside? I need to think because it is such a touchy topic, only I can answer it but not right now.
