Day 43
This is the 43rd day that has passed since Sarah had a heart attack. She remained in such critical care in Orlando, our visit July 20-25 was to prepare for the worst. Sarah remains on the vent via trachea and just recently, on August 6th, moved to Kindred Hospital in Tampa. It is as if it has started all over again, a stack of forms to sign and fax back (Ed does this as power of attorney) and begin a new road to? This hospital specializes in vent weening yet, we all know her condition and remain somewhat frustrated from the entire process. So, with that said, another flight will be booked, only this time to Tampa for a visit to see what is going on. It is frustrating being so far away from her, a simple 3 1/2 hour flight (that being if you go non-stop) seems like an eternity when you know you are going to an uncertain situation. We try to remain positive, as we always have and as days go by, her physical strength and our hope is failing. She lays in a bed, day after day and remains on 60% oxygen via a vent with a PEEP level of 10. This is not pleasant.
